We’ve included some step-by-step instructions below for making your very own boozy grinch hot chocolate.

The Grinch is a’ comin this Christmas, and he’s bringing a must-try alcohol infused hot chocolate recipe that’s as stunning as it is tasty. Give this recipe a shot next time you’re fixing for a sweet and delightful boozy hot chocolate that will knock you off your feet. Seriously, this thing could make for a dessert and evening drink all in one! It’s heavy enough to stand on its own, making it great as a sweet treat you can enjoy all year long.

Alcoholic Grinch Hot Chocolate

This luxurious hot chocolate cocktail brings together some sweet and minty flavors for a fresh tasting spiked chocolate that’s oh-so-sip-able! What I love most about this drink is that it brings back the good old classic hot chocolate formula. With solid chocolate as a base, of course. With none other than a smooth and enjoyable white chocolate, it allows the green hue of this beverage to shine.

Make it Green!

You can get just the right color by adding the ingredients according to our measurements. If done right, you’ll have a fun and boozy Grinch themed Christmas cocktail to show off to your friends and family! Not to mention, doubling this recipe is incredibly simple. Just combine your ingredients as usual, with higher quantities each step of the way. There is one thing to note however. When increasing the recipe and adding more white chocolate, be sure to set your heat a little lower. It will take a bit longer for the chocolate to melt, but you want to avoid burning it at all costs!

It’s worth noting just how delicious this creamy, boozy, holiday delight really is. The combination of Crème de Menthe and almond baileys creates a slightly minty, creamy delight with just the perfect amount of kick. Layer that onto the white chocolate and vanilla and you’ve got your next favorite go-to hot holiday sweet treat recipe!

Ingredients

Serves: 2 x 10-12 oz mugs

For the cocktail
3 oz almond baileys
3 oz Creme de Menthe
whipped cream
red sprinkles
green heart sprinkles

For the white hot chocolate
0.5 tsp vanilla extract
4 oz white candy melts, white chocolate chips, or white chocolate in small pieces.
2 cups of milk of your choice – milk alternatives, cream, regular milk, or half and half all work*

  • Note that despite using milk alternatives, this recipe will not be dairy-free unless you use vegan white chocolate

Instructions:

1) If you are using powdered hot chocolate, add 1.5 oz Almond Baileys and 1.5oz Creme de Menthe to each mug. Top with hot water or hot milk of your choice to slightly below the mug rim. Add hot chocolate powder and mix thoroughly to combine. Skip to step 3.
2) To make the hot chocolate from scratch, heat a small saucepan over medium-low heat and whisk together all of the ingredients until melted. Be sure to not boil the mixture, as the chocolate will crack and become crumbly instead of incorporating into the liquid. Once melted and fully combined, remove from heat and stir in the alcohol. Transfer to your two mugs carefully, or transfer to a glass measuring cup in order to pour it into your mugs more easily and with less of a mess.
3) To garnish, top with whipped cream, sprinkle with red sprinkles and add a few hearts to each mug. Cheers!
