Here are 9 places to have a picnic with wine in Napa Wine Country: As an organically farmed winery, V Sattui in St. Helena, Napa Valley produces more than 60 different types of wines. They have over 20 different grape varietals. Many of these wines are award winners, so there is a big reason to visit. However, you can also visit here for a picnic. You will need to purchase your wine and food there, but then you can enjoy the sunshine and fresh air all you want. When you visit Clos Du Val, there are picnic grounds just for picnickers. You can choose to picnic on the front lawn overlooking the majestic vineyards, or you can choose to picnic in the secluded olive grove. However, this place can get rather busy, so you should always call ahead to book your picnic spot. Buy your favorite bottle of wine, bring your lunch, and enjoy a beautiful picnic. Alcohol of all kinds used to be prohibited, and that included delicious wine. When this prohibition lifted, Louis M Martini was one of the first wineries to open its doors. They offer popular white wines such as Sauvignon and Moscato. However you can enjoy many rare wines as well. A picnic area is set up for guests in a shaded area behind the winery. You can even spend the day in your very own cabana! Call ahead to make reservations. What we love about Summers Winery is there is no hustle and bustle. You can enjoy hand crafted wines at a relaxing pace. Summers Winery offers a signature Charbono which is a dark red French varietal that is hard to find. Although it isn’t stated on their website, they do offer you the opportunity to take your wine to the outdoors during the summer months for your own little picnic. You may also, be interested in some of their summer events like the Summer Solstice winemaker dinner or the wine club pickup party. Many times the vineyards are only for adults; however, Frank Valley Vineyards is family friendly. Not only is it perfect for families, but it is one of the best picnic spots in the Valley. But, being owned by a former Disney Executive, Rich Frank, what less could you expect. Picnic under the giant elm trees, relax with a bottle of wine, and enjoy the majestic vineyard views. Along with great wine, Regusci winery has an amazing tale of how it came to be. For over a century, this winery has been family owned however, it only sold grapes to other wineries until 1998. At this point, Regusci crushed its first grapes and made some of the most delectable cabernet sauvignon, Merlot, Zinfandel, and Chardonnay that the land has ever known. Of course, as a family business, family is important. So, you and the whole family can enjoy a picnic looking out over the groves of olive trees at some of their picnic tables, or you can pack a blanket for a more primitive picnic. Join Rutherford Hill Winery for an “unforgettable experience on top of the hill!” Not only can you find mouthwatering wines, but you can picnic in the Oak Grove, take a mile long adventure through the caves, or just enjoy the breathtaking views. Although you can bring your own food for a picnic, you will need to purchase your wine there. You will also have to pay a $75 reservation fee to use the picnic area, but this is waived when you purchase a bottle of their wine. If you want to take advantage of the picnic grounds on the edge of the Mayacamas Mountains, you will have to book one of their three tastings. However, the wine is exquisite and the tasting is definitely worth it for a picnic at this gorgeous setting. But, if you are really in for an adventure, Bennett Lane also offers a hot air balloon package with a picnic lunch included. This is definitely a place for experiences! Located along the historic Silverado Trail, Dutch Henry Winery is more than just a place to taste wine. They truly want to make sure you have an experience worth sharing each and every time you visit. You will have to book one of their tasting or tour experiences to enjoy a picnic, but who goes to a winery without having a little tasting. With picnic tables set in picturesque areas, bocce ball courts, and a cave tour experience, you are in for a real treat. Plus, the wine is excellent and the pictures will be majestic.
