Let’s talk about an entirely hypothetical situation here. You have excess wine racks that are not filled with wine and are looking for creative uses for your wine racks. I know, I know. It’s a crazy scenario. Maybe you’re pregnant (ahem, check out these gender reveal mocktails), or you’re going to be moving so you’re drinking up your wine collection. What about using wine racks for storage?
*Maybe* those sound like plausible scenarios. Maybe.
Either way, for a few dollars, you can pick up a wine rack and put it to good use, with one of these home organization and storage hacks.
Wine racks are generally used for storing bottles of wine. But there are many other uses for your wine racks, besides wine storage and organization.
Towel Storage
One of my favorite things to use them for is as a towel rack. A nice hanging wine rack can totally change up the look and feel of a dull bathroom. All you have to do is roll your towels and slip them into the slots.
Store Your Yarn
Wine racks are a great way to store your skeins of yarn. And depending on the size and shape of your wine rack you may be able to store more than 1 skein at a time. It makes everything nice and neat and you have less of a chance of your yarn getting tangled.
Water Bottles
Another great use for these racks is to store your family’s reusable water bottles. We have tons laying around my house, each of us has 2 to 3, and most are too tall to store in the cabinet. If we take the tops off to fit them, we spend forever searching for the right lids. When you use your wine rack to store water bottles you can pop the lid on right out of the dishwasher and put it directly in the rack, no more bottles sitting on the counter and no more lost lids.
Art and Writing Supplies
A great inexpensive storage option for things like colored pencils, markers, paint brushes and more is to place some low-cost plastic or solo cups into the slots where you would put wine, and then drop your supplies down in the cup. You could easily sort by color or supply type.
Flip Flop Storage
The little slots in your wine rack are perfect to fit a pair of flip flops or even slide on shoes. You could also use it this way to keep the little ones from tracking mud into the house. Just put it by the door that way they will have a neat and convenient place to put their shoes.
Kitchen Wraps
A wine rack is a great way to store things like foil, cling wraps and wax papers. Depending on the shape and size of your rack you can keep them in the box and store more than 1 per slot.
Magazine Holder
An awesome idea is to store your magazines and other news materials. You can then place the rack by your couch, or bed or even better in the bathroom. This way there is always reading material and it stays clutter free and organized.
Crafting Vinyl
Crafting can get messy, and crafters are always up for creative storage and organization ideas. Your vinyl rolls will fit right into your wine rack slots and will help keep your craft area clean and free from clutter.
