I love this cocktail, it’s one of the best ways to take a cold drink even though the leaves are falling. You know how we look forward to ‘crock pot season’ and ‘soup season’? This is the cocktail to match.

What Kind of Apple Cider Should I use?

This cocktail is perfect for fall afternoons! Just got back from the orchard? This is my personal favorite fresh apple cider cocktail recipe! Fresh juice adds a whole new dimension to this drink, you’ll definitely notice the difference. If not, you can reach for some pasteurized apple juice for this cocktail recipe. One thing’s for sure, the right ginger beer will add a lot of body to this drink.

Grab a premium case of ginger beer to add the perfect amount of fizz to your apple cider mules! Using the right soda matters, and it can be a make or break for a cocktail like this. Cheap ginger ale goes flat quickly, puts the flavor off and ultimately brings your drink down. Ginger beer has a higher, non artificial, ginger content that gives a spice and bite you just don’t get from a plastic bottle.

Best Pairing Suggestions for This Cocktail

An apple crumble, or crisp is easily the best dessert you can serve up alongside one of these chilled drinks. For a main course, consider pork ribs or honey ham as a part of your meal. Pairing with this cocktail is all about finding something that works with the spice and kick of the ginger beer.

Here’s a bonus tip! If you love the flavor but you’re looking for something warmed, this cocktail recipe can work with a few adjustments. In a small saucepan, heat ginger beer, cinnamon sticks, and apple cider. Don’t let it boil, but simmer lightly. Omit the ice (duh), and stir in your favorite spiced rum before serving in a mug with one of the cinnamon sticks. If desired, add apple pie or pumpkin spice for a fun seasonal spin!
