This sweet and savory cocktail is ready to become the next staple in your Thanksgiving spread! Introducing the pumpkin bourbon apple cider cocktail. It’s a perfectly balanced drink that brings several of your favorite fall flavors to the table in delicious fashion. Below we’ll go over a step-by-step recipe for making it yourself, along with some helpful tips for serving them up this fall.
Flavorful Pumpkin Bourbon Apple Cider
I’ll be totally honest with you here folks. I’m not exactly a bourbon snob. Or rather, at least not as much as I’d like to be! It’s a whiskey that’s really enjoyable neat, on the rocks and as a highball. It’s a go to for an easy drink choice for me, but I’ve never delved into the cocktail side of things! Especially seasonal medleys like this one.
It gives you a chance to really experience the full range of potential with this sometimes overlooked liquor. Here, we’ll delve into the wonderful fall flavors it can easily snuggle up with. Tis’ the season for apple orchards, apple pie and of course, fresh apple cider! You can easily find some fresh cider this time of year, although we won’t snub you for grabbing it from the grocery store either.
Apple Cider Meets Bourbon and Vodka
Once it hits your palate, you’ll soon realize these two flavors were a match made in heaven. They blend perfectly, and compliment each other well. Apple cider has strong enough of a flavor, with just a touch of acidity that carries the bourbon whiskey. Even if you’re not a fan of hard liquor, you’ll find yourself in good company with this pumpkin bourbon apple cider cocktail.
Speaking of, pumpkin pie flavor makes an appearance in a unique flavored bottle of vodka! To be honest, before trying this cocktail I’ve never had the pleasure of tasting pumpkin pie vodka. Ever since I’ve been mixing it with other fall flavors like cinnamon to see how versatile it is. You’ll love the flavor it adds to this cider drink.
What’s the Best way to Serve up These Ciders?
Down below you’ll see we used rocks glasses for this recipe. They hold up great for a bourbon drink, especially one with a little fizz. Although, you could be forgiven for wanting something a little taller. Some people prefer tall glasses for drinks that include soda, so you could always use some highball glasses.
Personally I love the look of heavy bottomed whiskey tumblers. But since this cider cocktail is a little unique, I found some glasses that fit perfectly.
