Bring the Best Drinks at the Table

This plum iced tea toddy concoction is perfect for several reasons. One is that it makes for an excellent mixed drinks you can enjoy even after the leaves have started to fall. And secondly, it’s perfect for taking with you to holiday gatherings.

Whether it’s Christmas or Thanksgiving, you can rely on this delicious cocktail to be a total crowd pleaser! Since you’re not dealing with soda or sparkling water, this cocktail can make it’s way anywhere you go prepared ahead of time. You can easily decant it from a dispenser, or jug if you desire. In fact, leaving the fruit and cinnamon stick inside while it’s waiting to be served will only add to the flavor. Allowing it to ‘steep’, if you will, a little while longer.

What are the Best Glasses for This Toddy?

This was the first pleasant surprise for me when I first gave this cocktail a spin. Traditionally, a whiskey hot toddy is served in either a tea cup or glass mug. Of course, that’s because they have a small handle for you to move the cup holding hot tea easily. While these really are a pleasure all their own, we’re looking at a slightly different type of drink.

These are iced Toddys, and as such they don’t require a hot beverage glass. In it’s place we’ve used a Collins glass. They’re normally great for everything from long island iced teas, to gin and tonics and of course the drink where it got it’s namesake. While you can use any old type of narrow drinking glass, including highballs, I personally recommend a Collins glass.

How to Further Enhance This Cocktail

There are a few options as you might imagine! Everything from fun silicone ice molds, to alternative fruits and fun glassware is at your disposal. That being said, there’s nothing wrong with taking an old bartender’s tool to some otherwise perfectly intact fruit. In this scenario, fill your tall glass with plum, apple and a little bit of juice before muddling it with a cocktail muddler.
