While I do have some hesitations regarding how race and class are portrayed in the remake (I haven’t seen it yet, so I don’t know), it’s really fun that they keep remaking things near and dear to my childhood. So, how do you adult-up the release of a remake?
With a custom, film-based cocktail of course! This one is super-extra fun, because it includes homemade cotton candy.
Making Your Cotton Candy
Before you freak out at the idea, cotton candy machines run less than thirty dollars (right?! I got really excited too!). You’ll be the talk of the town, whether or not you have kids, when you make this delicious homemade blue lemon cotton candy to top off your drinks. Adding a puff of cotton candy to a cocktail is a very original, fun way to spice up a drink and give it that wow factor, plus it’s crazy easy.
Can You Just Buy Cotton Candy?
Absolutely, you can buy some cotton candy to use, too, if you’d prefer.

Genie Juice Cocktail Recipe
Ingredients
Cocktail Ingredients
- 3oz Island Blue Pucker
- 1 Can Sprite or Lemon Lime Soda
- Blue Cotton Candy (or use recipe below for homemade!)
Homemade Blue Lemon Cotton Candy:
- â…“ C Sugar
- 6-8 drops Blue Food Coloring
- 5-6 drops Lemon Extract
Directions:
Cocktail
- Add 3 oz of Island Blue Pucker to two glasses, and top off with cold Sprite.
- Place a large piece of lemon cotton candy on top, and enjoy! (Check out below on how to make your cotton candy)
This can also be made kid-friendly by replacing the Island Blue Pucker with non-alcoholic Blue Curacao!

- Mix all ingredients together with a fork, using the flat edge to crush any lumps until the sugar is mixed all the way through. Make the candy using your cotton candy machine’s instructions!
