When I was in college, I used to love to head out to Hacienda on their dollar margarita days! I mean it’s not everyday that you can get tipsy off a buck, and you know poor college kids don’t have a lot of money. Now that I am older, though, I would rather sit at home and sip my margaritas. But, I wanted a kick ass margarita like I used to get at Hacienda. This Kickin’ Mango Margarita is better than anything I ever got and, I am adding the alcohol, so I know I’m gonna be tipsy.

Kickin’ Mango Margarita Ingredients

Do I Have to Use Jalapeno in My Mang0 Margarita?

If you don’t use jalapeño, you won’t have a kicking’ mango margarita. Instead, you will just have a mango margarita. The flavor will be much different, but not horrible. You will have more of a sweet and sour margarita than a sweet and spicy margarita. But, if you can’t handle the kick, leave the jalapeño out.

What Kind of Tequila Do I Use?

Since you are making a cocktail, you don’t have to have top of the shelf tequila. However, if you want to avoid a nasty hangover, I would pick something in the middle! If you are looking for a good mid-range tequila perfect for cocktails, I would suggest the 1800 brand. In fact, you could compare it to Patron. Additionally, a silver or blanco tequila is best for margaritas. I tend to get tequila silver 1800. Not only is it good in margaritas, but it is pretty smooth as a shot, too.

Step 5

Strain your mixture into the glass prepared with ice, garnish, and enjoy your mango margarita!

How do You Muddle Ingredients?

Muddling ingredients means you are pressing the ingredients against the sides of the glass. To muddle the jalapeño, frozen mango, cilantro, and lime juice, you can put it in a shaker, press it in the glass with a muddler, or you can use the back of the spoon to press the ingredients to the sides of the glass. Remember, do this for 30-seconds.
