What is a Patriotic Mocktail?

If you are wondering what the difference between a cocktail and a mocktail are, it has to do with alcohol. A mocktail is best described as a cocktail that has no alcohol or liquor. Instead, it is a combination of juices, sodas, and waters to provide different colors and flavors.

Mocktails are also made fresh. So they are not poured from a container nor do they come from a fountain like pop.

Mocktails are great because everyone can enjoy them. You don’t have to tell the kids this is an adult only beverage because there’s no alcohol in it. You also don’t have to keep Aunt Lou out of the boozy punch.

How to Make a Patriotic Red, White and Blue Mocktail

As you can tell from the pictures, the colors don’t blend together in this mocktail. How cool is that? Now, this recipe does take a little bit of science to pull off, but don’t worry, we have done all that for you! Follow the steps exactly below to make your own red, white and blue mocktail!

Step 1

Start by filling your glass completely to the top with ice cubes. If you would like to use a straw, it’s best to insert your straw in the glass before pouring your liquids, otherwise the straw will disturb the layering process (science).

Step 2

Pour the Mtn Dew Frost Bite over the ice, filling the glass a little over a third full.

Step 3

Next, very slowly pour the Gatorade Zero Glacier Cherry over the Mtn Dew Frost Bite, filling the glass about ¾ full. If the Gatorade begins pouring too quickly it will mix into the Mtn Dew Frost Bite.

* Science trick* A trick to help pour slowly is to hold a spoon with the backside facing up across the glass, and pour the Gatorade over the back side of the spoon. It will slowly trickle into the glass, and keep it from mixing with the Mtn Dew Frost Bite.

Step 4

Lastly, pour the Strawberry Banana V8 slowly over the Gatorade Zero Glacier Cherry. The Strawberry Banana V8 will slowly begin to fall until it layers right on top of the Mtn Dew Frost Bite. The Gatorade Zero Glacier Cherry moves to the top, creating a fun patriotic drink everyone can enjoy! Last V8 juice Red juice moves to the middle

Once the red has moves to the middle, you have a fun patriotic mocktail to enjoy.
