Washington State’s wine industry is booming! In fact, it has a powerhouse of grape growth making it a wine country. However, most vineyards are found out east which is farther than most people want to travel for fine wines (well, I would, but that’s just me). Therefore, wineries have set up satellite outposts particularly in Woodinville which is a short excursion northeast of Seattle. Who wants to go wine tasting in Woodinville?

#1 Patterson Cellars

With more than a dozen options constantly on a rotating menu, Patterson Cellars is known for keeping every visit interesting. In fact, they have four different tasting room locations: Hollywood Hill, Seattle, Warehouse District, and Leavenworth. When you visit, you have a plethora of experiences you can embark on. Here are a few worth checking out:

  • Woodinville Wine Country Experience: For $115 per guest, you can experience two different wineries that includes your tasting fees as well as transportation.
  • Wine and Chocolate Pairing Experience: For only $25 per person, you can taste five wine selections paired with distinctive, culinary inspired chocolates.
  • Wine and Cheese Pairing Experience: Sample five current release and reserve wines while being served local and European cheese selections accompanied by fresh fruit for only $30 per person.
  • Charcuterie & Roasted Vegetable Pairing Experience: With this experience, you can savor your culinary tasting experience with gourmet offerings paired with five Patterson Cellars Wines for only $35 per person.

#2 Pondera Winery

What goes better with wine than fine art? At Pondera Winery, you can have both if you choose. Their on site winery has a constantly rotating exhibits of fine art curated by Howard/Mandville Gallery. Wine tasting is only $20 per person on the following days and times:

  • Wednesday and Thursday from 11am-5pm
  • Friday from 11am-7pm
  • Saturday from 11am-5pm
  • Sunday is by appointment from 12pm-5pm

Another great feature at Pondera Winery is that they offer a wine and dance. You can purchase tickets for two for $60. Sessions are the first Saturday of each month from 6pm-8pm, but book quickly because it’s limited to 15 couples per session. Click here for tickets.

#3 Obelisco Estate

If you want a comfortable accessible place to sip and learn about wine, Obelisco Estate is the place to go. The Estate pours wines from its 30-acre vineyard on the southwestern slope of red mountain, and they are known for their complexity.

Obelisco Estate has events with live music, wine, and fine dining throughout the month. Visit their events page to pick a day to go.

#4 Gorman Winery

Enjoy varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah when you visit Gorman Winery. This winery is small but mighty, and its labels are as bold as their flavors. If you like a little music with your wine, live music brings this tasting room to life on Friday nights! However, you can visit the tasting room at various days and times throughout the week:

 

  • Gorman Winery Hollywood Hill Tasting Room: Monday-Thursday: Noon to 7 PM: $10 Glass Specials. Friday & Saturday: Noon to 9 PM Music 7-9PM (Happy Hour Specials)
  • Gorman Winery’s Old Scratch Cellars Tasting Room: Saturday & Sunday: Noon to 5 PM

#5 Long Shadows Tasting Room

With seven accomplished vintners from around the world, Long Shadows Tasting Room packs a lot of wine-making muscle. Reservations are recommended, but you can visit the Woodinville tasting room on the following days and times:

  • Sunday-Thursday from 12pm to 5pm
  • Fridays and Saturdays from 12pm to 6pm

Enjoy a $20 Portfolio tasting where you can sit back, relax, and make yourself at home. Enjoy a tasting of all of the available wines. Allow 45-minutes to fully enjoy your experience.

#6 Fidelitas

Fidelitas is a unique boutique winery. It sources its grapes from the Red Mountain AVA which is highly respected for its bold, rich flavors. Enjoy tasting flights or wine by the glass when you visit. The Woodinville location has daily wine tastings with no reservations required. The tasting is $15 for four tastings of Fidelitas four current releases.

In addition to daily tastings, you can schedule  a special Friday evening tasting for an in depth tastings of Fidelitas favorite wines paired with light bites. This is an educational wine tasting experience that is only on select Fridays. To reserve tickets, you can call 425-558-9001, or visit their events page.

#7 JM Cellars

As a family-owned winery, JM Cellars wants to make your tasting experience tranquil with a surrounding garden perfect for sipping wine during a sunny day. The landscape is absolutely breathtaking and the wines are first class! If you would like to have a group of more than 8 people wine tasting, you will need to make a reservation. Otherwise, you can enjoy the tasting room on the following days and times: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 11am-4pm for $15 per person.

#8 DeLille Carriage House Tasting Room

Chosen for both the Wine Spectator and WIne Enthusiast top 100 Wines of the World lists for two years, DeLille Carriage House Tasting Room is one you just have to visit. It has three terraces and a large indoor tasting room. The tasting room is open on the following days and times:

  • Sunday-Thursday from 12pm to 5pm
  • Friday from 12pm to 5pm
  • Saturday from 11am to 5pm
