How Does Alcohol Help With Stress
Alcohol should always be used in moderation, but we have found that in the short term, alcohol does reduce stress. This is because alcohol is a sedative and a depressant to the central nervous system.
When you have a glass of wine, a bottle of beer, or a tequila spritzer, it can help reduce your anxiety and relax you. In fact, alcohol can be similar to antianxiety medications. Antianxiety medications like alcohol can be dangerous if used in surplus.
As long as your doctor approves, unwinding with alcohol isn’t dangerous. But, it is important to keep in mind that once you start drinking, you can build a tolerance to the de-stressing effects of alcohol. This means you will have to drink more to deal with stress and anxiety, so you know, proceed with caution.
