In this recipe, you get to choose your white wine of choice. Not sure what wine to choose? We have come up with a list of a few great white wines you can try.
6 White Wines to Try
Wine is somewhat of an acquired taste. Some people love it and some people hate it. However, it is important to know that there are a ton of different varieties of wine from sweet to dry. The trick to figuring out which type of white wine you like is to sample a few of the popular styles.
With this in mind, there are 6 white wine varieties and styles that will give you a great introduction to choosing the perfect wine for this cocktail.
#1 Oaked Chardonnay
Chardonnay is one of the most popular wine varieties on Earth. However, there are people that don’t like Chardonnay. Those who like Oaked Chardonnay are fond of its rich vanilla flavor and rich rounder mouthfeel. This is because when something is oaked, it is aged.
#2 Unoaked Chardonnay
Unoaked Chardonnay is wines that are either aged in stainless steel or placed for a short time in neutral oak. This kind of wine does not have the sweet butter vanilla flavors. Instead, it has a delicious green apple and lemon flavor.
#3 Sauvignon Blanc
If you know someone who likes Sauvignon Blanc, they most likely are referring to the New Zealand version. Although this wine originated in France, the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc is more popular. It smells like fresh-cut grass with a zip of acidity. It’s almost as refreshing as a glass of lemonade.
#4 Pinot Girgio
Pinot Girgio is the most popular white wine in Italy. It has refreshing flavors of lime, lemon, and green apple.
#5 Riesling
Some Riesling is sweet, but some of the top Riesling varieties from Alsace and Germany are dry. The dry Riesling has lemon, lime, pineapple, and apricot flavors.
#6 Riesling Sweet
Sweet Riesling is usually known as Moscato. It is very sweet and tastes almost like a sprite or 7-up. If you like the sweeter flavors, a sweet Riesling is a way to go.
