Wine Club Reviews

Thinking about ordering a wine club for yourself or giving one as as gift? Here on Aspiring Winos, we’ve taken the time to review some of the more popular wine clubs and delivery services.

Here’s everything you need to know about our wine club reviews.

How We Rank Our Wine Clubs

It can be tricky to pick the best wine clubs when there’s so many to choose from! Here’s how we determine what the best wine club is on each of our ranked lists, including wine clubs that deliver to each state.

Variety of Wines

This goes for both the options available for selection and what comes in the box. We like wine clubs with lots of options so you can cater to the unique wine preferences of each individual. With the exception of boxes catering to specific regions, we also prefer wine clubs that wines from a variety of countries and regions.

Options and Choices

Variety is only as good as the options you have to take advantage of it. We like wine clubs that let you choose between white and red at minimum, but it’s even better when you can order tailored boxes based on your wine preferences.

Quality (Wine Score)

If you’re ordering from a wine club you should expect that every bottle your receive is good quality wine! While a good sommelier knows that good wine doesn’t have to be expensive, the better the wine in an average delivery scores, the better we consider that wine club to be.

Extra Features/Bonuses

Some wine clubs have extras like tasting guides or fun accessories to go with your wine sampling. While they aren’t a major deciding factor, they can definitely be a deal breaker in a close call!

Overall Product Satisfaction

When a wine club chooses wines for you we feel it’s important they give you a good quality selection. This includes products that make sense together or fit an overall theme. If it’s a bulk box or monthly subscription, no repeats is also a major factor in what makes a good wine club. Finally, in cases where repeats are intentional (e.g. you order a box of Riesling), we expect you to receive a varied selection from a variety of wine regions and vineyards.

Costs and Added Fees

We don’t recommend products based on price alone but value for money is definitely an important factor in determining which wine clubs are the best. Another thing we look at is shipping costs, including whether this is an added fee or included.

Brand Reputation

It’s important that we only recommend reputable brands here on Aspiring Winos. While we can’t guarantee every brand is going to give you great service, we try our best to vet wine clubs before adding them to our lists. We also check regularly to make sure our wine clubs are online and accepting orders. Something out of place? Contact us.

Shipping Times and Reliability (Including Packaging)

Of course this varies for a variety of factors, we like wine clubs that ship products out quickly and efficiently. Realisable delivery is also a must; nothing is more disappointing than expecting a box of wine that doesn’t arrive! While this may not be a deciding factor for everyone, we do consider it with our recommendations – especially when it comes to giving wine clubs as gifts.

Packaging is also part of this: both in terms of presentation and keeping your wine safe during shipping.

Availability

While some wine clubs rely on scarcity to sell boxes, we prefer wine clubs that are available to order at any time without hassle.

Ease of Use

Wine clubs should be easy to subscribe to for the average user without much fuss. On top of that, a wine subscription should be clearly explained and easy to change or cancel.

Your Location

Sometimes, as is the case with our wine clubs for each state, we also look at your region when determining the top pick. Some wine clubs have different options based on shipping locations, others might have faster delivery if they’re located close by.

That being said, anything in our top picks a great choice for your next wine delivery.
