Can you Order Wine Online in Texas?
Texas wine shipment laws are based on gallons as a unit of measure for the volume of wine that can or cannot be shipped into state. Essentially, companies who are compliant with Texas shipment reporting and excise tax payment are eligible to ship wine into the state. What does that mean for you?
If you’re a resident of the state of Texas who is of legal drinking age, you’re eligible to receive 9 gallons of wine per month for a total of 36 gallons of wine a year. If that makes your head spin a little, we’ll break it down for you here. While the average person doesn’t measure their wine in gallons per year, this roughly equates to anywhere between 18-19 cases of wine a year.
While it’s tough to make an exact number of bottles since they vary slightly in volume, this could equate to well over 200 bottles a year. In other words, you probably have nothing to worry about if you’re not planning on ordering wine on a wholesale basis. (There are different regulations for retail wine shipments entirely).
